Between this August 13th newspaper comment by Mayor Nenshi and September 1st, the Board members at Calgary Chinatown Development Foundation (CCDF) heeded a call for help from City Hall and the greater arts community.
The object was to show Calgary as an open and inclusive City. Chinatown is a welcoming diverse community that is a great place to live, work or visit. CCDF offers a mix of apartments in Chinatown as a private not for profit landlord. The Bowside Manor provides affordable housing, in the heart of Chinatown. Along with some 88 apartments; office & retail floors include, volunteer community seniors’ space, a family affinity association with a bubble tea shop, a small religious temple space and a large 2nd level Chinese language school.
