Joining the murals throughout Chinatown are two new painted utility boxes. Transformed with a depiction of a tiger, these two new pieces highlight the vibrant nature of our community and adds just one more colourful piece to the downtown cityscape.
Completed in partnership with project organizer Fung Ling, the two new designs can be viewed on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Centre Street, just across from the Muse Coffee shop and local hotspot the Silver Dragon Restaurant.
This latest addition to Calgary’s Chinatown was completed by artist Wil Yee. Mr. Yee has had a long history of illustration and artwork in the community. He is a born and raised Albertan and calls Calgary his home, and is a proud graduate of the Alberta College of Art and Design (Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Illustration and a minor in Graphic Design).
You can follow his work on Facebook or on his website.
If you are interested in his other works, he is the artist behind six murals across the downtown of Calgary such as the Moll-inistsis-in-aka-apewis mural and Era of the horse. They can be viewed on the artist’s website.
